In 1948 he married Lyllis Rathke, of Humboldt, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. He enjoyed farming until a devastating hail storm in 1960, when they left farming and moved to Ft. Dodge. Loran John was involved in the Crop Insurance business until he retired at the age of 85. His work led them to many new locations throughout the Midwest, and they enjoyed many new homes.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, his parents, and his 4 siblings. He is survived by his 4 children; Larry (& Andrea), Lyndall (& Roland), Lynn (& Chris), Lori (& Marty), 6 grandkids, and 4 great grandkids.
Loran John shared his love of God, with his family, and many friends. He cherished the time spent with his dogs and horses. He often joked about being a lifetime Democrat. He died the way he lived, with a grateful heart and a smile on his face.
